Artists of Mayo Online

Online

‘Artists of Mayo’
‘Artists of Mayo’ will be an online, full-day, choc-a-bloc extravaganza celebrating the very best that Mayo has to offer!
To celebrate Mayo Culture Night 2020, the Linenhall Arts Centre is inviting Mayo artists of all disciplines to submit a video recording of their work (1-3 minutes duration) to be shared across our social media platforms. And you will be sharing the (online!) stage with some of
Mayo’s finest artists including John Butler (Ceol Pipes), Catherine Donnelly (Dance), Frances Macken (Literature), Elaine Mears (Theatre), Astrid Ní Mhongáin (Song), Conor O Grady (Visual Artist) and Ger Staunton (Comedy).
So you can sing a song, play a tune, dance a jig, present an artwork, tell us a joke (or a story!), or read from your favourite piece of literature! This is open to artists across all artforms of music, theatre, dance, visual arts, comedy and literature. As we always like to say – we like to think of this as an online open mic of sorts without the fear of public speaking!!!
Please send your videos via WeTransfer to Bernie at director@thelinenhall.com by Fri 4 Sept at 5pm. Please note that depending on the volume of submissions we may not be able to share all the work on the day itself.

Short Film: CONFINE(d)

Offline

Confine(d) is a multidisciplinary project by poet Alice Kinsella and visual artist Paul Kinsella. Shot in Co Mayo, this film uses poetry, and virtual reality technology to explore the effects of confinement on the mind. Through the lenses of landscape, history, and technology, Confine(d) navigates themes of isolation, restriction, and the relationship between physical and mental space. Produced with the support of the Arts Council of Ireland.

There are two ways to enjoy the screening. Two members of the public at a time can view it via a virtual reality headset in The Linenhall’s coffee shop, with the artists on hand to assist and guide you through the experience. Please note that headsets will be cleaned thoroughly after each use. Six members of the public at a time can attend screenings of the film in The Linenhall’s theatre space, running at 10 minute intervals between 5pm and 7pm.

Please consult The Linenhall’s guidelines for attending shows before arriving at the venue:
