Maria Dowling is an award winning Irish Artist from Fermoy, Co. Cork. However her grandfather was born and brought up in Courtown, Co. Wexford. As a child Maria spent much time in Wexford and she has great love and affection for the area. This is most evident in her beautiful original artworks of the beaches and landscapes of North Wexford. These include Ballymoney, Cahore, Old Bawn and Morriscastle Beaches. “Contemporary harmoniously colourful , figurative atmospheric oil paintings with a timeless quality”
Maria works in oil, acrylic and pastel. Her objective is to capture the transience of nature, to catch the energy of a moment through the process of laying down paint. This painting process uses light, colour, texture and design to imbue the work with beauty and excitement. In January 2019 a work by Maria was commissioned through The Gaslamp Gallery which was presented to President Michael D. Higgins featuring Aras an Uachtarain and his beloved Bernese Mountain dogs Siod and Broda.
