Intention, Place and Legacy – a Preview

- Offline
Description:
An Taisce is delighted to present works from the forthcoming 'Intention, Place and Legacy' exhibition by Dublin artist John Roch Simons.
Simons has a research-driven practice primarily working in portraiture. The series is a complex, unconventional portrait of Kathleen Goodfellow (1891 - 1980). Goodfellow was a philanthropic patron of the arts who gifted to An Taisce in perpetuity a hidden urban woodland in Donnybrook, known as The Grove, as a wildlife sanctuary.
Simons’ 7 minute video installation made over 2020/2021 allows the viewer to experience The Grove by proxy. The installation captures the sounds and colours of this urban green spot when the city took on a unique look and feel during the Covid lock-downs.
The Hall itself will also open and visitors will learn more about one of Dublin's oldest Guildhalls as well as the work of An Taisce.
