Description:

Imagined Worlds is an interdisciplinary fine art photography exhibition by New Frames Project, celebrating the creativity and collaborative spirit of emerging artists in Limerick. Developed through a creative programme by Artis Aura facilitators and fine art photographers Avia Gurman Murphy and Céline Mermier, the exhibition opens on Culture Night and runs in the historic Carriage Room at the People’s Museum of Limerick from September 18th until 2 October.

Blending fine art photography, storytelling, set design, costume, and collaborative art-making, the exhibition presents a series of cinematic, narrative-driven works that blur the boundaries between photography, installation, and theatre. Through immersive visual storytelling, participants have created handcrafted worlds inspired by imagination, play, curiosity, and human connection.

Alongside large-scale collaborative works, the exhibition features individual photographic projects that reveal each artist’s distinctive creative voice and visual language. Developed through mentoring, experimentation, and collaborative making, New Frames encourages artists to take creative risks, challenge conventional visual narratives, and present ambitious original work to the public.

Featuring works by Sarah Howard, Daiva O’Dwyer, Jenna Barry, Grace Frawley, Cadhla O’Mahony, Meadhbh Hennessy, Karolina Sobocińska, Jack Martin, and Laura Macijauskaitė, Imagined Worlds celebrates accessible arts participation while fostering collaboration, confidence, and cultural engagement through the power of shared creativity.

New Frames is designed to be an inclusive and welcoming cultural event accessible to a broad and diverse audience. The exhibition is free to attend and will take place in the Carriage Room at the People’s Museum of Limerick.
The event is suitable for all ages and backgrounds and is not dependent on language, as the exhibition centres around visual storytelling, photography, installation, and interdisciplinary artistic expression. The immersive and self-guided nature of the exhibition allows audiences to engage with the work at their own pace, making it welcoming for neurodivergent audiences and visitors who may prefer quieter, flexible cultural experiences.
The project itself has been developed through an accessible youth arts programme that removes financial and structural barriers to participation. Emerging artists from different creative and social backgrounds have been encouraged to contribute their own perspectives, creative voices, and artistic approaches.
