‘I Can Listen’, a visual art exhibition by Clodagh Kelly, celebrating the Geneva Declaration of the Rights of the Child, will take place on 23rd September in Áras Chill Dara, Naas.

For this exhibition, Clodagh invites young artists from county Kildare to submit their original artworks inspired by the Geneva Declaration. Five selected artworks will be framed and on display in the exhibition which opens on Culture Night.

Age Categories & Themes:

The open call is divided into the following age categories: 4-8 years, 9-11 years, 12-15 years, 16-18 years.

Whether you prefer traditional material like pencils, paint, collage and photography or something a little more unusual such as mud, make-up, cooking dye or hair dye, it’s open to you! The only requirement is that your piece must be two-dimensional in A3 format.

Please base your work on topics relevant to the Geneva Declaration of the Rights of the Child: health, education, home and family life, protection, play and recreation. You are very welcome to further research the Declaration and expand on these themes. You can find more information here:

Deadline to submit: Wednesday 14th September 2022

To submit your artwork, please drop it into your local library in Kildare with your name, age, address, phone number and email address on the back of the artwork.

Selected artists and their families will be invited to the exhibition opening at Áras Chill Dara, Naas on Culture Night (Friday 23rdSeptember).

This is a pilot project by Clodagh Kelly through which she hopes to promote awareness of the issues, challenges and concerns of the youth in Kildare and the wider community. She hopes to develop it in the coming months.

This project is funded by Kildare County Council Arts Service and is supported by the Arts Council.
