Here’s Looking at You

Following painting workshops exploring mythical stories of Brigid, Kildare and local biodiversity with members from Athy Irish Wheelchair Association, an original and symbolic image will be selected and graphed for purposes of enlargement. Referencing the original and creating a finished work in collaboration with the Irish Wheelchair Association members and participants from the local community, on Culture Night, people will be encouraged to replicate a section of the original painting with guidance in timed sessions. All materials will be provided and two participants at a time, can work with artist Cathy Callan for 10 minute sessions, exploring the nature of painting techniques. Smaller works in acrylic inspired by local environment and biodiversity will be created and on view. Seats will be provided to witness the fun of this 'live' painting session. To engage new and different audiences, discussions on new experiences, shared creativity and local stories will be encouraged throughout time of our ambitious popular fun and inclusive event.
