Helium Arts would like to invite all children, young people, families, educators, artists and healthcare workers to come along, expand your imagination, try out some of our activities, hear from our young people and learn more about how creativity can improve mental health and well-being. Helium Arts is an award-winning Irish charity (based in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath) giving children and young people with lifelong physical health conditions the chance to shine. You can find us running arts-based workshops at outpatient clinics, community workshops or online. Our creative workshops are recommended by hospitals across the country and are open to children and young people aged 6-18 years.
The Helium Arts Youth Advisory Group (YAG) is a voice for our young people living with lifelong physical health conditions. YAG members (aged 13-25 years) – Aimee, Ciara, Dara, Franchesca, Lisa, Lucy, Owen and Zachary recently came together to star in and produce a short film explaining their own involvement with YAG, what the group does and why it is important to them and other young people. We are excited to launch this film to the public as part of this event. The film was made possible with funding support from Westmeath County Council, Creative Ireland Westmeath and the Arts Council.
In addition to the film launch we will also be displaying some artworks from our recent Summer Exhibitions in Galway, Limerick and Cork (attended by An Taoiseach, Micheál Martin). The artworks were created by Helium Arts participants alongside our professional artists in various workshops around the country.
