Hedge School Ecologies

Hedge School Ecologies

‘Hedge School Ecologies’ is a pop up installation showing work in progress by artist/researcher/curator/food fermenter, Niamh McDonnell. The mixed media works on show at the Moth Studios are made in response to two strands of local environmental history that are unique to the county, an artifact of folk custom (a topiary hedge sitting on a crossroads) and an archival document (a diary/teaching manual of a Hedgeschool Master dating from the 1800’s).

All are welcome to come along to the Moth Studios, Church Street, Cavan town, from 4pm – 9pm to meet Niamh and find out about how she is researching local history as a lens through which to explore how we can connect with the rural environment of Cavan and adjoining counties in ecologically sustainable ways. The installation will be a pop up information kiosk with materials on various art making and food fermenting projects/workshops that are taking place as part of ‘Hedge School Ecologies’.
