Handmade Animation is a collaborative workshop for young people aged 13–17, led by visual artists Andy Parsons and Edel Doherty. Participants will draw and paint directly onto a giant paper filmstrip, creating a collective artwork one frame at a time. The completed filmstrip will then be laminated and digitally captured to transform the drawings into a unique animated film, introducing participants to the principles of animation through simple analogue techniques. No previous artistic experience is required, making the workshop accessible, creative and fun. Delivered in collaboration with Binder Arts at the ATU Innovation Centre, the event encourages experimentation, collaboration and visual storytelling while giving young people the opportunity to see their artwork come to life as moving animation.
