The Nora Barnacle House Museum is delighted to be part of Culture Night 2022. We invite you to join us for one of our tours and immerse yourself in the world of Nora Barnacle and James Joyce. As part of the tour you will be invited to sit around the fire over a drink and listen to readings, including a short history of the life of Nora and James. Guests will be invited to read if they wish to and there will be an exclusive performance of the ‘Lass of Aughrim’ by the Galway musician Brigid Mae Power.
The Lass of Aughrim is the song which Nora’s mother, Annie Barnacle sang for James Joyce when he visited her in Bowling Green in 1909, the song plays a pivotal role in Joyce’s short story, The Dead. The Dead was inspired by the author’s discovery that Nora had loved someone before they met.
This will be a unique experience whether you are an expert in the work of Joyce or a complete novice, the evening will make the perfect introduction to his work.
Places are limited to 10 per tour. Advance booking is required. To book, please email us at [email protected]
