Guided Tour of Department of Finance and Government Buildings

Visitors can join a guided tour of the interior of South Block Upper Merrion Street, the magnificent building that is home to the Department of Finance and the Department of Public Expenditure, NDP and Reform. The interior was renovated recently arising from a need to undertake essential electrical and rewiring work on all floors. The renovation work, which included restoration of original features, was completed in 2016.
South Block was designed by Sir Aston Webb, the pre-eminent British architect of the early 20th century who designed the Victoria and Albert Museum, Admiralty Arch and the façade of Buckingham Palace, London. The building retains its original late Edwardian interior. Government Buildings is Webb’s only known building in Ireland.

Schedule: Four tours lasting one hour each at 6pm, 7pm, 8pm and 9pm.
