Description:

Come along on Culture Night for a rich and informative historical tour of the National Museum of Ireland – Collins Barracks exploring LGBTQIA+ history in the Museum’s collections. This tour views the Museum’s exhibitions through alternative lenses, bringing some hidden histories and perspectives to the fore. Focusing on objects and individuals from the 17th to the 21st century, the tour reveals a wide variety of identities, genders and sexualities along the way.

Tours will begin in Reception at Collins Barracks. Booking is not required, however, places are limited and will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Children must be fully supervised by a parent or adult who is in loco parentis.

This tour takes place twice on Culture Night, at 17:30 and 19:00.

All galleries in Collins Barracks are fully accessible. The site has three lifts, located in the east corner servicing floors one to three of the decorative arts section of the museum. There are two lifts in the Soldiers and Chiefs exhibition.
Accessible toilets are located in the main reception, the ground floor of the Soldiers and Chiefs Exhibition, and in the Riding School (temporary gallery).
Mobile stools are available upon request from the Reception Desk.
Wheelchairs are available from the Reception Desk on request. Please call ahead to reserve one on +353 1 6777444.
There are seating areas available in the majority of galleries.
