This Culture Night, join an enjoyable guided walking tour on the history and heritage of the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital; explore its iconic buildings and learn about its significant contributions to Irish healthcare from its opening in 1861 until the present. Discover facts about life in the hospital in the 1900’s for patients and staff; its architecture; medical education and research; and the Mater’s involvement in national events such as the Easter Rising and much more.

The event is wheelchair and buggy accessible from the Eccles Street hospital entrance beside the original building. Please note the tours last about an hour and travel across the main hospital campus; there are some stairs en route but lifts are accessible for wheelchairs/buggies along the way.
