21:00 - 22:00
- Offline
Description:
Forty years after seeing Rory Gallagher in the National Stadium, local musician Ashley Hayden took his guitar and harmonica on a road trip from Chicago to the Mississippi Delta.
In this presentation, with live music, spoken word, and a sequence of photographs, he relives his journey, and explores the links between traditional Irish music and the Blues.
With particular reference to Rory Gallagher, Muddy Waters, and in the context of forced migration, religious and racist oppression, he highlights why Irish people so identify with the blues.
