Description:

The lecture will explore the excavation and survey work undertaken by the Inishlyon Project since 2015, while also tracing the remarkable story of Matthew Connelly, a native of Inishlyon who emigrated to the United States. His son, also named Matthew, went on to establish a prominent role in Washington, D.C., serving within President Harry Truman’s administration during the 1940s. The lecture is dedicated to the memory of Augustine Coyne, East End, Inishbofin.
