Description:

This event will include an exhibition featuring a display of pages from the 1926 Census of Kilrush with supplementary material.

There will be expert genealogists from the society on hand with laptops to assist attendees asking about their own families in 1926 in Kilrush or elsewhere in the Irish Free State.

The Culture Night event will be aimed in particular at those without the technical skills to find their own ancestors online.

It will also be used to generate local publicity for the Kilrush Genealogy Conference 2026 scheduled for the following month, and to encourage locals to welcome the many overseas visitors from the West Clare diaspora expected to attend the conference, and to help these visitors to find their ancestral homes and their living relatives in the local area.

Funded by Clare County Council’s Arts Office.

Beidh taispeántas mar chuid den ócáid seo ina mbeidh leathanaigh ó Dhaonáireamh Chill Rois 1926, mar aon le hábhar breise, le feiceáil. Beidh ginealaithe saineolaithe ón gcumann i láthair le ríomhairí glúine chun cabhrú le freastalaithe fiosrúcháin a dhéanamh faoina dteaghlaigh féin i gCill Rois nó in áit eile i Saorstát Éireann i 1926. Beidh an ócáid seo dírithe go háirithe ar dhaoine nach bhfuil na scileanna teicniúla acu chun a sinsir féin a aimsiú ar líne. Úsáidfear í freisin chun poiblíocht áitiúil a ghiniúint do Chomhdháil Ghinealaigh Chill Rois 2026 an mhí dár gcionn, agus chun muintir na háite a spreagadh chun fáilte a chur roimh na cuairteoirí ó dhiaspóra Iarthar an Chláir a mbeith ag freastal ar an gcomhdháil, agus chun cabhrú leis na cuairteoirí seo a dtithe sinsearacha agus a ngaolta beo sa cheantar áitiúil a aimsiú. Maoinithe ag Oifig Ealaíon Chomhairle Contae an Chláir.
