Fermoy Culture Night Presents: Fermoy International Choir in Performance

Online

Join the Fermoy International Choir online this Culture Night to celebrate music and the Arts in Fermoy and beyond. The choir performs two classics to convey a special message this Culture Night.

Africa: The very first song the Fermoy International Choir mastered, it has become something of a signature tune. And with choir members from South Africa and Nigeria the Toto-classic is a cherished number for us. We hope you enjoy and sing along!

Bridge Over Troubled Water: We chose to cover this song because the words were so appropriate for this time, this place and this choir. Sober and solemn in its first two verses the words and tone mirrors the pressures of living during a pandemic. But it gives way to hope, resilience and a determination that by working together we can be the bridge to get us all through this difficult time. Recorded at Blackwater Studios in Glanworth it is an anthem of defiance.

The second piece is a lively medley of well known and loved Irish tunes, arranged by M. Sweeney. This was recorded live in St Patrick’s Church in March 2018 and the selection is titled Irish Rising.

The third Piece is Hoagy Carmichael’s Heart and Soul recorded in Kent Street, Fermoy in October 2019.  This outdoor performance brings back beautiful memories of the Fermoy Regatta and their long association with the Blackwater.
