After a walk around the town on Culture Night taking in many forms of local art, finish your evening by joining Eric de Buitléir as he sits at the piano and interprets the experience through the medium of free jazz improv in the beautiful surroundings of St Mary’s Church.
For over twenty years Eric has travelled the world documenting his experiences in song. He takes influences from just about anywhere. From classical and traditional Irish music – both of which he learned from a young age – to rock, blues, and jazz, Eric uses everything at his disposal to create songs and pieces that are as honest as they are moving, thought-provoking and sometimes even humorous. From the beautiful “Farewell To You” to the satirical ”Paragon”, he never fails to captivate an audience with his unique voice accompanied with either acoustic guitar, piano or his latest setup which consists of an electric guitar and two amplifiers in stereo with a subtle delay between them to create a surround sound effect. This year Eric completed a Bachelor of Arts in jazz and contemporary music – on piano – at Dublin City University
