Norman Culture Night

Spend Culture Night at Enniscorthy Castle with entertainment for all the family.

Traditional song workshop for families with Aileen Lambert.

Two Sessions at 5pm and 6pm (Duration 30 minutes)

This workshop for all ages is guaranteed to have everyone singing at the top of their voices with some well-known traditional songs combined with songs with great stories featuring a King with Horse’s Ears and poor Paddy O Brien’s adventures in the belly of a whale!

Aileen Lambert is a traditional singer and delivers traditional song workshops in primary schools as part of Music Generation and the Heritage in Schools Scheme. She is passionate about sharing our traditional song heritage and engages in a variety of traditional song projects.

What’s in a name: People, Places and Things of County Wexford with historian and folklorist Michael Fortune.

7pm – 8pm

Join artist/folklorist Michael Fortune for a once off presentation exploring how our Wexford place names were formed and their Gaelic, Norman, English and Viking origin. In the 60 minute talk he explore some of our official places names as well as some of our unofficial ones for fields, cross-roads, fishing grounds etc. Not to be missed for anyone with an interest in all things historic, folkloric and local.

Plus: Storytelling, Norman Knights and History and
entertainment for all the family.
