Description:

‘Folk Threads’, is a unique, versatile folk music show that brings together the ethereal voice of Emer Dunne, ‘A definite rising star’ (Irish Music Mag), and her superbly talented musicians. This diverse live music show combines the skills of a professional experienced trio, linking the threads of various folk styles and performance elements together, including singing, instrumental music, dance, and audience participation.
The aim is to have a high-quality production and a captivated audience at each show.
We wish to engage with the audience, allowing them to be an integral part of the performance and connect with us on stage through stories on the songs or music, listening and the option to take part and sing along with us.
This show would incorporate various folk songs and music and show how they tie in with each other and how they tie in with our heritage.
We will display images behind the musicians to depict the stories behind the songs and music and look towards songs and music from various historic eras including The Famine e.g. ‘Isle of Hope’ and ‘Grace’ based on the 1916 Rising, up to current day.
Our aim with this show is to be sensitive and respectful of Irish traditional folk music by including many traditional elements but also to show how folk music from other genres and other countries have come into play and can influence each other and how current songs can be performed with folk and traditional elements.
An exciting, diverse performance with various musical threads to captivate the audience.
