Earthquakes and Other Geohazards

The Dublin Institute of Advanced Studies invites you to attend this informative talk on earthquakes. Despite its lack of large earthquakes, Ireland holds a special place in the history of earthquake studies thanks to the pioneering 19th century work of Robert Mallet, often credited as the father of seismology. The Geophysics department of DIAS has maintained the Irish National Seismic Network since 2018, and is excited to discuss the past and present methods of monitoring live earthquakes worldwide this Culture Night.
