Douglas Hyde Cultural Influencer

Celebrate ‘Douglas Hyde Cultural Influencer’ during Culture Night with the launch of the
commission by artist Padraig Cunningham. The project is an installation of artworks at the Douglas Hyde Centre in Frenckpark, consisting of film, audio and sculptural elements inspired by the former presidents love of the land and love of words.

On the evening also join in on a conversation with historians Dr Liam Mac Mathúna and Dr Máire Nic an Bhaird in ‘Decoding the Dynamic Character of Douglas Hyde’, a talk about the complexity of the Roscommon man's relation to language and the state.

Music from the local CCE will accompany the event

Funded by Roscommon County Council and the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media under the Community Strand of the Decade of Centenaries programme for Culture Night 2023.
