The 1926 Census of Ireland, conducted on 18 April 1926, provides the first detailed demographic snapshot of the Irish Free State, recording 2,971,992 people and offering rich insights into society, occupation, language, and family life. Cork County Council’s Local Studies department will explain how to uncover local history in this extraordinary resource.
