Description:

De La Salle Scout Pipe Band | 7:00pm – 7:45pm | Constitution Square
Founded in 1934, the De La Salle Scout Pipe Band was the first pipe band attached to a Scout group anywhere in Ireland — a distinction it has held for 90 years. Led today by Pipe Major Pat Murphy, the band remains a familiar and much-loved presence on Waterford’s streets, from parades and civic occasions to major scouting gatherings at home and abroad. Their appearance at Constitution Square brings nine decades of local tradition to Culture Night, with the distinctive skirl of the pipes and the band’s saffron kilts — a feature since 1953 — a fitting note for the evening’s programme.
