The Long Table, Music & Storytelling event on Culture Night will be a flagship community gathering within the festival, celebrating local culture, creativity and connection through shared food, live music and storytelling. This year, the event will include a new Irish language element, further celebrating the rich cultural heritage of the islands. The evening will be hosted by storyteller and writer Diarmuid Ó Drisceoil, who will also give a reading in Irish from his new book during the event. The programme features harpist Tara Viscardi and flautist Robert Harvey, which pairs new compositions inspired by the Beara Peninsula with traditional tunes dating back to the 18th century. The work also engages with the legend of Princess Beara, linking contemporary composition with local myth and historical narrative. Both musicians have significant international experience, with performances supported by Culture Ireland at venues including the Irish Embassy in London, the London Irish Centre.
