Description:

8 Bits of Galway by media artist Serhii Khadzhava

8 Bits of Galway is a playful and visually captivating 3D mapping experience that reimagines the façade of Lynch’s Castle, one of Galway’s most iconic historic landmarks. Transforming the building into a vibrant, arcade-inspired world, the artwork draws on the visual language of classic 1990s platform games. Through a series of short visual “levels”, the artwork offers a glimpse of Galway in an 8-bit aesthetic.

Sergey Khadzhava is a Ukrainian media artist based in Ireland, working across immersive audiovisual installations, projection mapping, and live visuals. With over ten years’ experience, he has created works for Electric Picnic, All Together Now, Beyond The Pale, Night And Day Festival and other events across Ireland and worldwide, transforming public environments into engaging visual experiences, blending of physical and digital worlds, creating memorable shared experiences for audiences.

8 Bits of Galway forms part of the Arts Council’s Culture Night Late and the Galway City Night-Time Economy Programme funded by Department of Culture, Communications and Sport, with support from the Galway City Council Night-Time Economy and Arts Office.

8 Bits of Galway leis an ealaíontóir meán Serhii Khadzhava

Is eispéireas mapála 3D spraíúil agus mealltach ó thaobh amhairc de é 8 Bits of Galway a dhéanann athshamhlú ar éadan Chaisleán an Línsigh, ceann de na sainchomharthaí is stairiúla agus is íocónaí i nGaillimh. Déanfar domhan spleodrach a bheidh faoi anáil ionaid siamsaíochta den fhoirgneamh féin agus beidh an saothar ealaíne bunaithe ar theanga amhairc na gcluichí ardáin clasaiceacha ó na 1990idí. Trí shraith de “leibhéil” ghearra amhairc, tabharfar léargas ar Ghaillimh in aeistéitic 8-ngiotán leis an saothar ealaíne.

Beidh 8 Bits of Galway mar chuid d’Airneán na hOíche Cultúir na Comhairle Ealaíon agus de Chlár Geilleagair Oíche Chathair na Gaillimhe atá maoinithe ag an Roinn Cultúir, Cumarsáide agus Spóirt, le tacaíocht ó Oifig Geilleagair Oíche agus Ealaíon Chomhairle Cathrach na Gaillimhe.
