Description:

For Culture Night, Ireland’s National Cemetery opens its gates for an evening of history, heritage and fascinating stories. Visitors can choose from two special highlight tours exploring the characters, places and stories within Glasnevin Cemetery.

Women in History Highlights Tour:

Discover the stories of extraordinary women buried in Glasnevin Cemetery, many of whom played key roles in shaping Irish history and the country’s political landscape. The tour explores the lives and achievements of women who helped shape modern Ireland, including one Irishwoman who became one of the first women in the world to hold a cabinet position.

Dead Interesting Highlights Tour:

Join a highlight tour of the cemetery’s oldest areas and reveal the remarkable stories and monuments that make Glasnevin such a unique landmark. Visit the ornate crypt of Daniel O’Connell and learn about the cemetery’s early history and some of its more unusual stories!

Tours will run throughout the evening from 16:00–20:30. The exhibitions in the Visitor Centre will also remain open until 20:00.

Tour is mostly wheelchair accessible, with the exception of Daniel O'Connell's crypt and some of the older areas of the cemetery.
