As part of Culture Night 2023, the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland will open its doors to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the birth of pioneering Irish surgeon and anatomist, Abraham Colles.

Take a self-guided tour of RCSI’s historic buildings at 123 Stephen’s Green to learn about the rich heritage of RCSI, how it has influenced healthcare worldwide, and the part it has played in shaping national history - including its seizure by rebels during the 1916 Easter Rising.

Visitors can enjoy an exhibition highlighting the life and legacy of Irish surgeon and anatomist, Abraham Colles. A leading figure in the golden age of Irish medicine, his innovative approach to anatomy education is apparent in medical schools to this day. Join the RCSI Heritage team for short, informal talks exploring Colles’ continued relevance in healthcare education in the historic surroundings of the RCSI Boardroom at 5pm, 6pm, and 7pm.
