Description:

Come along for a night among the stars and expand your mind with cosmic insights from the astronomers of DIAS Dunsink Observatory! Dunsink is Ireland’s oldest astronomical observatory and was once the home of one of Ireland’s greatest mathematicians, Sir William Rowan Hamilton.
Nowadays, DIAS astrophysicists study explosions on the Sun, search for new stars and planets, and search the universe for exotic astronomical objects.

The programme includes a self-guided tour of the 18th century observatory and the Victorian engineering of the South Telescope built by Grubb of Dublin.

Schedule: 17:30 - 18:30, 19:00 - 20:00, 20:30 - 21:30

Advance booking is required via DIAS Dunsink Observatory website. 80 tickets will be available per time slot.

Bígí linn le haghaidh oíche i measc na réaltaí agus leathnaigh d’intinn le léargais chosmach ó na réalteolaithe i Réadlann DIAS Dunsink! Is é Dunsink an réadlann réalteolaíoch is sine in Éirinn agus bhí sé tráth ina theach ag ceann amhain de na matamaiticeoirí is fearr in Éirinn. Sa lá atá inniu ann, déanann réaltfhisiceoirí staidéar ar phléascanna ar an nGrian, déanann siad cuardach do réaltaí agus pláinéid nua, agus cuardaigh na cruinne le haghaidh réada réalteolaíochta coimhthíocha.

Áiríonn an clár turas féintreoraithe ar an réadlann san 18ú haois agus ar innealtóireacht Victeoiriach de Teileascóp Theas a thóg Grubb as Baile Átha Cliath.
