Description:

Breaking the Narrative: A tactile workshop exploring digital ennui, led by Artist in Residence Emma Ray.

We live in a visual culture of “endless scrolling,” where we are constantly bombarded with high-gloss, hyper-curated images of perfection. In this workshop, participants will take a piece of curated social media imagery and dissect it using a combination of heavy acrylic paints and traditional embroidery threads, you are invited to physically “break” the narrative..

6pm Workshop (Teens: Ages 13–18) A fast-paced, hands-on session focusing on the pressure of the curated feed. Teens are invited to visceral, creative deconstruction—using paint and thread to rebel against the pressure of the “perfect” digital aesthetic.

7.30pm Workshop (Adults: 18+) A relaxed, slow-paced session focusing on digital exhaustion. Adults can use methodical, meditative embroidery and painting to slow down the consumption of an image, pushing back against the fatigue of the endless scroll. No previous painting or embroidery experience is required.
