The Creative Hub will open its doors to audiences on Culture Night 2019. Artists working in the hub are:
Fran Greene, Wexford Arts Hub, Helen Gaynor, Emerging Escalators, Peter Wickham and Richard Cleary, Ciaran Bowen and Olivia O’Dwyer, Bernadette Doolan, Vivian Brody Hayes/ Dance Hub Wexford, Mara Coastal Creations and The Makers House.
Meet the artists on the night.
Many of the Creatives working here will open their doors and will be present to discuss their work including:
Peter Wickham and Richard Cleary’s forthcoming project- Making the FABulous House: An exploration of proposals for FABricating domestic buildings.
Studio no. 7 will be open to show the workings of and the process of making this proposal and exhibition. They explore the possibilities for new domestic architecture within the parameters of making and fabrication, and budget, in the contexts of current and future technologies and our current housing crisis. In other words they want to explore the possibility of making homes, coupling digital fabrication technologies with traditional technologies, within a reasonable budget. And of course with all of these parameters in mind, the building must also be beautiful – a place where people long to live.
Mara Coastal Creations-
Bernadette Kavanagh from Mara Coastal Creations will be on hand to discuss our local coastline and her work as an environmental artist/jeweller. Bernadette uses local beach-combed treasures such as sea-glass, driftwood and beach-pebbles in her work and her studio, No. 8, will be open for anyone interested in visiting and chatting all things coastal.
Helen will be on hand to discuss her work. Helen is an Artist, whose creative practice includes painting, mixed media, writing, poetry, music performance, and improvisation.
Ciaran Bowen and Olivia O’Dwyer-
Will open their shared studio and will be on hand to discuss their current work.
Exhibition- Blow Ins Group Art Exhibition-Late Viewing
On the walls in the Creative Hub during Culture Night will be a group exhibition featuring Kevin Martin, Sonya Weston, Darragh Fanning, Jackie White, and Andrew Kingshott. This is the ideal chance to see the exhibition before it closes on the Sep 24th.
The Creative Hub at the Bullring Mall provides a supportive space for artists in which to work, bringing together a diverse collective of artists, craft makers and performers under one convenient and sociable roof. What was once a derelict shopping mall has been transformed into affordable studio space providing support for local artists and offering a combination of working studio, exhibition and retail space for the creative sector in Wexford and a focal point for artists to meet, connect and work.
