Dundalk - Louth

FIlm Poems

This short Film Poem by local film maker Ultan Hodgers sets in motion 3 poems by Dundalk native Jim Craven.

Jim, who passed away in a car accident in 1980, first received an award for writing at the age of fifteen and during his lifetime he produced a sizeable collection of work, the quality of which has been recognised by a number of distinguished commentators. Two collections of his poetry, Selected Poems and Nice of You Jim, were published in 1983 and 2005 respectively. Craven’s work was also included in Eugene Robert Platt’s A Patrick Kavanagh Anthology in 1973 and Daniel J. Casey’s Poetry of the CĂșchulainn Country in 1978.

This film poem brings movement to 3 of Jims most recognised pieces and will remain available on our YouTube Channel and our CreateLouth website for viewing for the next few weeks.
