Cork Public Museum: Preserving Cork’s Past Demonstration and Exhibition

- Offline
Description:
Preserving Cork's Past - Caring for our Collections at Cork Public Museum.
Join Cork Public Museum staff members, Collections Officer Mera Qamar and Digital Officer Dara McGrath for an informative and engaging talk about the work we do behind the scenes at the museum. During their presentation, they will detail how Cork Public Museum acquires, catalogs, and preserves collections and how they are utilised for exhibitions, events and research. In the modern museum world, digitisation and digital services are an important aspect of the work we do here and this will be highlighted in this presentation. Overall, visitors will get a better understanding of the journey taken by Cork's material heritage in our care, from acquisition to public enjoyment.
Using original objects and documents, they will present two 45-min demonstrations (at 17:00 and 18:30) to illustrate the work that is carried out everyday at this museum.
Please email [email protected] to book a place for one of the two talks that will be held on Culture Night (either at 17:00 or 18:30)
The museum will also remain open until 19:00 to allow people explore our many exhibition galleries.
