Description:

This is a project of the Women’s Programme at Nasc, the Migrant and Refugee Rights Centre. The programme brings together more than 160 women from diverse backgrounds who share the experience of forced displacement, creating a
space for community, connection and solidarity.

Inspired by similar initiatives in the US, the UK and Denmark, Sweet Dreams was developed in response to rising racism and xenophobia, highlighting the shared experiences that unite people across cultures and languages. At the heart of the project
are lullabies. These universal expressions of love, hope and protection transcend borders and generations.

Drawing on childhood memories and cultural traditions, participants created artworks inspired by lullabies from their home countries. For some women, these songs evoke hopes for their children’s futures in Ireland; for others, they recall the loss of
home and family caused by displacement.

Each postcard features original artwork, a participant’s interpretation of the lullaby’s meaning in English, and a QR code linking to a recording of the song and its story. Together, the works celebrate cultural heritage, resilience and shared
humanity while offering a powerful response to division. Visitors are invited to contribute their own reflections, drawings, songs or lullabies on the blank postcards provided.
