Description:
St James’ Church, Mallow will provide a fitting setting for an evening of choral music when Cór Mhagh Ealla takes to the stage, joined by special guests Natasha O’Brien and Shona Murphy.
Founded in Mallow and long regarded as one of North Cork’s leading community choirs, Cór Mhagh Ealla has built a reputation for musical excellence through performances across Munster and beyond. The choir recently achieved further acclaim by winning the Community Choir section at the Limerick Choral Festival and is celebrated for its diverse repertoire, ranging from traditional Irish music and contemporary arrangements to sacred and classical works.
The concert takes place in the beautiful surroundings of St James’ Church, one of Mallow’s most distinctive landmarks. Originally constructed in the 1820s, the church combines striking Gothic architecture with an intimate and atmospheric interior renowned for its warmth, light and exceptional acoustics, making it a much-loved venue for live music and cultural events.
Joining the choir will be local vocalist Shona Murphy, whose rich and expressive voice has become familiar to audiences across the region. Based in Mallow, Shona has established herself as a versatile performer, bringing sensitivity and warmth to every performance.
Special guest Natasha O’Brien will also feature as part of the evening’s programme, adding another unique musical voice to what promises to be a memorable collaboration.
Audiences can look forward to a programme of uplifting choral music, beautiful harmonies and special guest performances in one of Mallow’s most atmospheric venues, making this a highlight of the Culture Night celebrations.
