Open air sculpture/ light interactive installation situated in Fr. Burke Park (the dimensions of which will be approximately 2m x 2m x 2m. It will consist of a solid timber frame structure in the shape of two interlocking cubes with a semi-translucent polyvinyl canvas layer stretched across the external frame of the cube. Internally the cube will house a series of LED light strips which will emanate sequences of colour and light patterns through the polyvinyl exterior, creating a visual spectacle that will engage audiences and invite them to contemplate the deeper conceptual meaning of the work. The sculpture is symbolic of the ever evolving nature of culture and identity, and speaks to the strength, diversity and unity that Galway embodies. The idea is that audiences will be confronted with this otherworldly type object emitting light synced to an ambient audio track which will be composed by a local musician and collaborator.
