Across The Distance: Music, Heritage, Poetry and Song

This live stream performance includes various events from around the county, a chance to celebrate the power of the arts to comfort and uplift, especially in this current climate.

Hear music and songs from Millstreet Community Singers, Macroom Community Singers, Westgate Foundation, Peadar O’Riada and Cork singer-songwriter Fintan Lucy. Joe Creedon brings song and heritage from Inchigeelagh, and Eugene O’ Connell reads works from the 18th century poet and hedge school master Eoghan Rua Ó Súilleabháin.

From West Cork there will be stories of Allihies Men’s Shed, heritage in Bantry and the Four Valleys, Haiku from Sherkin Island and a limerick from Bandon. Hear the sound of Indonesian music and the story of The Gamelan from locations further afield, plus poetry and humour from Killeagh in East Cork.
