"Granny's Special Delivery" Promotion Event

Offline

Last year’s lockdown was an opportunity for Jim Kelly from Carrigaline, Co. Cork to write a children’s book about his daughter Aisling’s imagined adventures in an epic journey from London to Ireland.

Living in London with her family, Aisling, aged 5, really missed her Granny who lived in the west of Ireland. She always enjoyed visiting in the summer but was so sad to leave her when it was time to go home. So, one day Aisling decided to find her way back to her Granny!

Granny’s Special Delivery tells the story of Aisling’s adventures along the way, from London to the pretty thatched cottage in Ireland where Granny lived. Making friends with a mischievous mouse along the way, they share an unforgettable adventure with a happy ending.

Recently published in Irish and English, this is a heartwarming tale about the love between grandchildren and their grandparents and is very appropriate at this time of pandemic where there is so much isolation in families and where hugging is forbidden.

The event will include display of illustrations from the book, beautifully realised by Rita Dineen, a number of readings in both Irish and English, and opportunities for colouring.

Time: 3pm - 8pm

An Arctic Adventure Book Promotion

Wanting to do something special for charity, Tim Bywater wrote a childrens book, with proceeds of the sale going to Down Syndrome Ireland. The book is written about two penguins, Terry and Neal, who are carbon copies of Tim’s son, Toby, and his cousin Nate.

Terry and Neal are two best friends, and are penguins. The have lots of fun playing with their friends in the ice slides and pretending to be pirates.

From different colonies, they have to attend different schools for the first time, in the ice and snow.. When something happens to Neal, Terry’s mom swoops in and saves the day, teaching us that every though we are different, we all have a heart.

Self-published at Christmas 2019, Tim set up a website to sell the book, www.fruitionbooks.com The book has been very beautifully illustrated by an up and coming Cork based illustrator, John Coughlan.

The event will include a display of illustrations and the book, and there will be opportunities for colouring. The book is on sale in Carrigaline’s own Art Gallery and online.
