Supper and Song
Calli Collective brings together plants, pots and people to facilitate community engagement. This project promotes knowledge exchange and localized food systems while supporting local biodiversity. A collaborative arts project with food and people at its core.
Calli Collective presents Supper and Song as a celebration of the gift of food, heritage and culture. An informal gathering in which we pay homage to our ancestors, the land, cabbages and soil that provide sustenance. Calli cakes, songs and conversation will be shared. Food is a human right and food security is a topic for discussion at our gatherings.
The Calli Collective will engage performer Siobhan Kavanagh to sing traditional folk songs with the theme of food. Siobhan is a professional singer and researcher of traditional Irish songs.
This event will be a ‘pop up’ located in a public space of historical reference , Cornmarket, Ballinrobe. Ballinrobe has a strong history as a marketplace dealing with local trade and agriculture. This is an open public event encouraging cultural diversity and reconnection through food and song.
