This event will launch the artist book Beyond the Ditch, Beside the Road, from visual artist Marie Phelan.

The publication was created to mark the land based film screening of her short film Me&You&Us&Them, that took place on Culture Night 2025 in a field at Kilcumney Cross along the Borris to Bagenalstown road, site of a battle during the 1798 Rebellion.

During the book launch there will be a combination of readings and conversations that consider the publication, and the film, reflecting on memory and how a place like a field sits within the thinking of those who inhabit it, or pass it by. Tea and biscuits will be served.

This publication features invited essays from writer and curator Catherine Marshall, who will join the conversation on Culture Night, and Rosie O’Gorman, artist and director of Cow House Studios.
