The Barrack Street Concert Band has been making music in Waterford since its formation in 1870 in the Mount Sion Christian Brothers School on Barrack Street. In those 156 years, the Band has played on through two world wars, and numerous changes of premises and a long parade of members. The Band has remained popular with the people of Waterford across the generations, and this living heritage continues today with two or three generations of several families continuing in the footsteps of their great-grandparents. The Barrack Street Concert Band is one of Waterford’s living treasures, playing a regular part in the cultural and leisure life of the city and lending its considerable musical skills to local charities and organisations. They will perform a selection of popular music pieces from 8 – 9 pm in Constitution Square.
