2026 will be the first year Ballymacoda Ladysbridge Community Council will hold an event for Culture Night. As we are a coastal and agricultural area, we propose to host a Harvest festival to celebrate the end of Summer. Ballymaçoda hall will be decorated with bunting painted by the children of Kilcredan National School. Our evening will commence at 6pm with a focus on Forgotten skills. We will have a range of presentations and stands including Maria the Bacteria Queen and Helena Walsh who will present on artisanal foods, food fermentation and the intriguing power of herbs. Mary Colbert from Sustainable Ladysbridge has been a socialmedia sensation this Summer with her “Clean like your granny series” and will present on ecofriendly cleaning potions, tips and tricks. Our international residents including our active Polish community will present their traditional foods and cultural customs. Jim Burfield will present on the joy of beekeeping and the bounty of beautiful honey while Teresa Kennefick from Ladysbridge Flower and Garden club will show us traditional methods of drying flowers and foliage and how to plant pots of spring bulbs. Cór. na Mara and local musicians will provide musical entertainment from 7.30pm. The night will include presentations from Billy Harrington on the Knockadoon Enhancement Project and a local historical presentation from Jimmy Collins.
