Join us at Ballygar Courthouse in the Market Square, Ballygar for a night of workshops, demonstrations and music performances.
The event will begin at 7 pm with the launch of the Ballygar Heritage Audit, Heritage Consultant Zena Hoctor, who compiled the information for the audit, will launch Ballygar Culture Night and present an overview of the material in the audit. This will be followed at 8 pm by an artistic expression of the themes from the heritage audit presented by artist Thérése Murphy. The County Galway-based artist will present some of her work with a focus on Ballygar’s heritage landscape.
Galway’s newest folk trio Roguish make their debut for Ballygar Culture Night! Roguish are Mark Costello, Caoimhe Newell and Davin Costello. Coming from similar musical backgrounds, the all-string trio each bring something different to the table. Expect a traditional mix of guitar, fiddle and bouzouki fused together in dulcet tones. Influences include The Dubliners, The Chieftains, Andy Irvine and Paul Brady. Roguish perform at 9pm. A show not to be missed! This performance is funded through the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media Local Live Performance Scheme.
