Mirroring is a nonverbal technique where a person copies the body language, vocal qualities, or attitude of another. This performance intends to connect people through the materiality of exchanging a scarf, and the gaze, observation, repetition as a mutual language. After exchanging your scarf with the artist, you’re invited to sit in front of her by a dressing table with no mirror, and copy or be copied throughout the self-adornment process with the textile. How can we trust the unknown and share subjective notions of identity, culture, time, and appreciation for the other through the self?
Thais Muniz invites participants to come and experiment together at this performance taking place on the ground floor of the Dean Art Studio.
