Art in Mind spans several buildings in the Liosbán Industrial Estate, composed of offices, studio space and a gallery.
In the gallery: Exhibition by Glenn Gibson, ‘The Observer & The Observed’. Glenn Gibson is a professional Irish artist creating and teaching wire sculpture in Galway. Renowned for his Connemara hawthorn sculptures, the Art in Mind gallery is hosting a retrospective of Glenn’s 20 year career.
In the studio next door to the gallery: A showcase of work by 15 studio artists. Artists will be on hand to discuss their work, their goals and their experience. Julia Dunin, Ronan Fahey, Niamh Daniels, Gala Tomasso, Jane Hanberry and Carly Mucha are just some of the names who are displaying work.
Also in the studio is ‘Marketing Masterclass for Artists’, a free lecture hosted by Jane Hanberry, targeted at creative practitioners looking to enhance their physical and digital promotions. The event will also be broadcast online from the Art in Mind Facebook page. The studio will also host an array of games, demonstrations and interviews.
Art in Mind has partnered with It’s OK Cork to provide talks and workshops surrounding mental health and creative practice. Dzana, the director of It’s OK Cork will be interviewed by councillor Clodagh Higgins at the Art in Mind Studios from 7.30pm, in a discussion surrounding mental health and borderline personality disorder.
In the music studio: It’s OK Cork will be kicking off their Poetry Circle event at 6pm. The Galway Ukers will be providing Ukulele tutorials and play alongs from 7pm. Esteemed musician and poet Gerry Hanberry will be playing a mix of originals and covers from 8pm. The music portion of Art in Mind will close with a rock band fronted by Ritchie Brennan from 9pm.
Online: Various events will be broadcasted from Art in Mind’s social media pages on Culture Night including an interview with founder Glenn Gibson, interviews with the Studio artists and a tour of the gallery and studios.
Refreshments and wine will be available on the night from Adare Beverages.
