The event aims to create awareness around Disability, and how we can learn from persons with disabilities, to realise the important things in life Cheshire House Elastic Band are a music band made up of people with disabilities and without disabilities. The band create music with a community theme and will play some of their music & read some original thought provoking Poetry at the event.
There will be an opportunity for participants to share food, stories and experiences.
Ollie Turner, Galway Bay FM will interview people with disabilities about their lives, the challenges & opportunities, how they have overcome obstacles to reach their achievements and flourish in life. The event aims to create awareness around disability; we will discover how it’s the simple everyday things that are required to build a flourishing life. There will be an opportunity for participants to get to know each other, share food, stories and experiences at the event.
Cheshire House Elastic Band are a music band made up of people with disabilities and without disabilities. The band have recently been shortlisted in two awards categories as part of The Wheel’s Sparkchange Awards which will be held in Dublin Castle in Oct 2019. The band create music with a community theme and will play some of their music & read some original thought provoking Poetry at the event. The band will launch their new original song ‘Make Way’ which is a song campaigning for better Accessibility for people with disabilities, at the event.
Foróige support young people to involve themselves consciously and actively in their development and in the development of society. Foroige Members will support the event by providing the Sound Equipment & their Sound Engineering expertise for the evening. Foroige members will also play some of their music on the evening. Foroige plan to video the Interviews and Songs from the evening for possible use on Social Media at a later date.
Ard Family Resource Centre (FRC), have agreed to host and support the event. Ard FRC work in the Doughiska Area to combat disadvantage, strengthen and empower Children, families and Communities to reach their full potential, through a variety of activities including Education and Community events and meet ups.
