Ár nOidhreacht Oirialla – Our Oriel Heritage

Green Church, Dundalk

This unique event in the Green Church, Dundalk, celebrates the rich cultural heritage of the Oriel region through music, song and language.
Focusing in particular on the early twentieth century Irish-language collections of Crossmaglen song collector John Hannon, the evening features performances informed by the scholarship of Dr Gearóid Trimble that bring to life Irish-language songs from a lost chapter of our region’s heritage performed by the Oriel Traditional Orchestra with special guests.
The Culture Night event reflects ongoing efforts to share the repertoire with the community through workshops, performances and publications that can support other initiatives including the opening of a new meánscoil, Gaelcholáiste Dhún Dealgan, in 2023.
