Description:

An Antarctic Journey:

Inspired by artist Martina McDonald’s journey to Antarctica, this exhibition invites visitors to Riverbank’s Children’s Gallery to discover the icy landscapes and remarkable wildlife that Martina encountered over 17,000km from her home in Co. Kildare. Featuring original photography and hands-on creative activities for children, the exhibition celebrates the beauty and wonder of the frozen continent.

Parachute Display:

Local artist Brian Cregan and TY students from the Curragh Community College collaborated to create a large-scale parachute artwork. Students were given the opportunity to explore the origins of photography, learn cyanotype printmaking, and work with a range of materials and processes over 6 weeks in Spring 2026. Textile artist Aideen Cross also provided guidance, and an accompanying documentary film by Richard Lennon was created.

The project was supported by the Riverbank Arts Centre team and Kildare County Council Library and Arts Service.
