Description:

ALT WEST / ALT THIAR is a new exhibition by the Office for Joint Administrative Intelligence (O.J.A.I.). Operating between Brussels and Berlin, the O.J.A.I.  is the collaborative practice of artists Chris Dreier and Gary Farrelly. They work at the intersection of art, bureaucracy, architecture, fact and fiction.
For ALT WEST / ALT THIAR, they have drawn on local research, conversations, archives, and encounters across the Mid-West region to create a temporary headquarters. Furthered by their research residency in March earlier this year, the project explores the infrastructures of Ireland’s Mid-West region and the stories, systems, and histories that shape everyday life.
For Culture Night, visitors are invited to attend special a live performances by the O.J.A.I. This informal event offers audiences a unique introduction to the world of O.J.A.I and includes the premier screening of a new film about the nearby Sarsfield House. This film considers the architectural merits of this contentious brutalist edifice. This event provides visitors with an opportunity to gain a deeper insight into this new site-responsive project that is speculative reimagining of the Mid-West region through art, research, and performance.
