Adaptation Film Weekend Opening Screening

Booking required
All Ages

The Glens Centre in conjunction with Adaptation Film Weekend will present a tenth anniversary Open Air screening of the North Leitrim filmed feature film, Jimmy's Hall. The Culture Night screening will take place at Manorhamilton Castle and will be the opening film of the Adaptation Film Weekend. The film, inspired by North Leitrim writer Donal O'Kelly's play Jimmy Gralton's Dance Hall, has a PG-13 Rating.

During the Depression, Leitrim man Jimmy Gralton returns home to Ireland after ten years of exile in America. Seeing the levels of poverty and oppression, the activist in him reawakens and he looks to re-open the South Leitrim dance hall the community built during the War of Independence. The action rouses the opposition of early 1930s Irish Church and State leading to Gralton's deportation, the only Irishman ever deported from his own country. The film will be preceded by a 7.00pm festival launch by one of the film's leading actors Brían F. O'Byrne. Film Starts 8.00pm
